Their journey, spanning the entire spectrum of product development from conception to delivery, enabled them with profound understanding of nuances involved in materials, design, safety, quality, prototyping, processing of energetic compositions and evaluation of armament systems.

    Shri KPS Murthy, MTech Prod Sci & Tech (IITKh), FeAeSI, superannuated as Outstanding Sci-entist & Director of High Energy Materials Laboratory, Pune one of the premier laboratories of DRDO.

    He has significantly contributed to Design & Development of Advanced Warhead Systems like Variable Mass Pre fragmented, Submunition, Penetration cum Blast, Directional , Under Water Penetration, Tandem Warheads etc., for Rockets, Missiles & Torpedoes; and instrumental in advancing the technologies of Thermo-baric and Insensitive Munition com-pliant Warheads. Nitramine & Active binder-based propellants , Protection technologies for tanks and aircrafts and many more. He has led various Technical Committees as Chairman, for Standardization of Materials Specifications,, Life assessment and Life extension of am-munition, Quantitative Risk Analysis based explosive siting.

    He has 16 journal publications and 15 patents to his credit. He is a recipient of several prestigious DRDO and AeSI awards (16) including Scientist of the Year, Technology Leadership, Agni Award for Excellence in Self-Reliance, Dr Biren Roy, Bharat Ratna APJ Kalam Awards. He has also served as Associate Director for ARDE, General Manager for ACEM, Nashik, Chairman- INSARM ( Pune), Chairman - AeSI (Pune) and President -HEMSI ( National)

    Dr Shrikant Pande, superannuated as Associate Director of High Energy Materials Laboratory, Pune, one of the premier laboratories of DRDO. He has significantly contributed to development of Conventional and Advanced Solid Propellants for Rockets and Missiles (aluminized, reduced smoke, minimal smoke and smokeless - CDB and EDB; CP, CMDB; nitramine-CP, NEPE; ECP as well as FRPs), Liner Coatings for rocket motor rubber insulation; and Inhibition Materials for both Case Bonded rocket Motors and Cartridge Loaded Propellants.

    Established large-scale processing technologies and lead ToT’s to OFB, Pvt. Industries. He has been at forefront in development of High-Performance PBX Compositions (for TB WH), EIDS and IM compliant fillings. He has been instrumental in development / out-sourcing of new materials for specific applications (precursors, plasticizers, burning rate modifiers, speciality materials), Standardization of Materials specification and Test procedures. He has publications in 23 Peer Reviewed Journals and 3 Patents to his credit and guided PhD Students.

    He has been awarded prestigious R&D Excellence Award for Development of Minimal Smoke Advanced Energetic Propellant and AGNI Award for Excellence in Self-Reliance (Development of ‘Advanced Energetic Propellants for various missile Applications). He is a Life Member of Professional Societies / Institutions: HEMSI, SPS, AeSI, and IDST.
